Henryd, Ty’n y Groes a /and Llanrwst – 13/2/10
Bore oer ond braf yn Nyffryn Conwy. Cychwyn yn Henryd gan dargedu'r ddwy stadynghyd â rhai o'r tai cyfagos. Yr ymateb yn dda iawn ond geiriau cryf gan ambell un o'r trigolion ynghylch yr hyn ddigwyddodd i waith Dolgarrog. Y mae'r Cynulliad a Phlaid Cymru wedi gwneud drwg mawr i'w statws yn y Dyffryn trwy addo cymaint ond gwneud dim pan fu i'r gwaith gau gan arwain at golli 130 o swyddi yn yr ardal.
Ymlaen wedyn i Ty'n y Groes gyda'r croeso unwaith eto'n dda iawn er fod ambell i Geidwadwr yn rhoi amser go galed i mi o ran yr angen i fod yn fwy ymosodol fel plaid! Dwi'n credu fod bod yn ymosodol yn ddull etholiadol sydd wedi cael cyfle go dda gan y Ceidwadwyr yn 2001 a 2005. Y mae'r Blaid Geidwadol ar hyn o bryd yn bod yn hynod agored ynghylch yr her sy'n ein gwynebu fel gwlad a dan yr amgylchiadau credaf fod gonestrwydd adeiladol yn llawer mwy tebygol o fod yn effeithiol na bod yn ymosodol yn syml er mwyn sgorio pwyntiau yn erbyn Llafur.
Ymlaen o Dy'n y Groes i Lanrwst. Hanner awr o ymgyrchu cyn mynd fel siaradwr gwadd i gyfarfod blynyddol Cangen Dyffryn Conwy o'r Blaid Geidwadol. Bore da o waith gyda Cymru'n trechu'r Albanwyr wrth i mi yrru adref!
We started at Henryd on a cold but sunny morning in the Conwy Valley. I was very happy with the response in the two main estates of the village but some very harsh comments were made by residents in relation to the lack of support from the Assembly and Plaid Cymru when the Dolgarrog Works closed. Despite the rpomises of the local AM nothing constructive was done by his party leader, the Minister for Trasnport and the Economy, and the site is now a scar on the landscape with 130 jobs lost. It's shocking to consider that the business plan submitted to the Assembly to keep the plan operating looked for support at a level of only slightly more thatn the £800k subsidy provided by ieuan Wyn Jones to the Air Service between his Anglesey Constituency and Cardiff. Priorities.....
Onwards to Ty'n y Groes and again a very warm welcome with the excpetion fo a few solid Conservatives who wanted the party centrally to be more aggressive in their campaign against Labour. My own view is that as a party we did aggressive in 2001 and 2005 - without success. this time we need to be honest and open with people about the huge challenges that face us as a country. Under such circumstances aggressions is not neccessary - the situation speaks for itself.
From Ty'n y Groes we went on to Llanrwst for half an hour of canvassing before I attended the AGM of the Dyffryn Conwy branch of the local Conservative Association. A very good session of work made even better by the final result of the Wales - Scotland match as I listened to the radio as I drove home.
